!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! that is

Finally found a good replacement for the Compcams cam that was in my GTO. Nearly the same duration and almost identical lift, so I should have no need to re-tune my vehicle.

Went with a Texas Speed and performance cam for 2 reasons

1. My machinist made some very good points about not using Compcams

2. They do great work and I have bought from them before.

Hopefully this will be a good purchase.

SPECS: 228/232 .600"/.600"

Why fix what wasn’t broken? Especially if there is no gain.

What points did your mechanic have against Comp? I can't imagine they would become so popular if they have glaring faults. Not questioning your decision, just wondering about what would cause him to steer you away from comp.

Unless this is sarcastic, check their last posts. The old cam is 100% done.

For some reason your last post wasn’t showing the “Hungry Hungry GTO” post. Sorry about that.

His quote, “I wouldn’t put a free CompCam in a customer’s car.”

His reasons were lately they have been cutting corners and don’t make as good a product as they o nce did trying to make as much money as they can. And by the looks of it, they did not harden the cam that went into my car after cutting it. I could be wrong, we haven’t had it tested for hardness yet, but I am not the only person recently that seems to have unreasonably eaten through a cam. So I had no qualms switching makers.

So it sounds to me like the issues are more of a recent thing so a lot of the old school guys might not have personally had any issues yet.

Yeah we are talking probably at least the last 10 years. Not sure if they are ok now, but yeah.

I think your previous cam makes some really excellent points about not using a Comp cam.
